When trying to find the correct replacement remote you need, knowing the brand & model number of the system that's installed in your vehicle is generally needed, you can't just go by how the remote looks! But, if you don't know this information and you have an existing remote to your system, all you have to do is make sure that the FCC ID Numbers and/or Letters on the back of your existing remotes case matches the new replacement remotes FCC ID number and the amount of buttons on each remote matches. That's it, it will work. All replacement remote's come with programming instructions.
Without knowing either the model of system or FCC ID you will not be able to identify the correct remote you need, unless you can find the systems main control module located under the drivers dash, commonly mounted behind the dash panel that's directly across from your knees when your sitting in the drivers seat, its an installers' preference exactly where he mounts it. Once the module is found, there's usually a model number on it.

Programming a Code Alarm or Chapman replacement remote to your system following the instructions included with every remote requires that you know where the systems "programming" or "emergency override button" is located, its also known as a "valet" button. This push-button is commonly found under the drivers side dash area, mounted on a bracket or sticking out thru a hole drilled thru a panel, many newer model systems have this button built into the systems antenna that mounted on the windshield behind the rear view mirror. As long as you know where this button is, you should be able to program the remote without any assistance. (Click-on "emergency override button" above for a picture)
